Prepare For The Holidays

With the holidays right around the corner, it's time to start preparing for a houseful of guests. Plumbing problems tend to pop up over the holidays when there's more people around. It's important to make sure your plumbing is and will continue to run smoothly throughout the festivities. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Avoid putting grease down your drains. Once it cools in your drain, it will clog it up.
  • Garbage disposals are meant to discard small food particles and not large scraps from food prep or meals.
  • Mesh screens can be placed over your kitchen drain and catch food particles from going down it while you're cooking in the kitchen.
  • More house guests means more hair going down drains. Stay on top of cleaning up hair out of the bathtub and sink, or put a mesh screen over the drains.
  • Cleaning your shower heads can create a better flow of water and help guests take shorter showers, and use less hot water.
  • Know where your water shut-off valve is located incase you start to have water line problems. Turning it off will minimize damage.

With these things in mind, know that plumbing problems can arise during the holidays and that Robert G. Bookhultz Plumbing provides emergency services. If you see signs of a backed-up toliet or drain, request assistance before the problem worsens. Let Robert G. Bookhultz Plumbing take care of your plumbing needs this holiday season.
